John "Buck" Renner

Buck Renner Scholarship Fund

The John “Buck’ Renner Scholarship Fund, in honor of Jim Renner’s father, is intended to help a student golfer from either King Phillip High School in Wrentham, Massachusetts, or Bishop Feehan High School in Attleboro, Massachusetts further their education.

“Buck” Renner was a well known and accomplished golfer in the Attleboro, Massachusetts area. He won several club events, participated in MGA state events, and won the Father-Son event with Jim.

His greatest achievement as a golfer was his win in the 1983 Attleboro City Championship, a 72 hole local tournament that brings out a couple of hundred of the best players in the area.

As a man, he was wonderful to be around. Though a big man, he was kind, gentle and giving. It was once said of a golfer “I never played a round of golf  with him I didn’t enjoy”. The words seem meant for Buck.

In the fall of 2013, the Renner Family and Friends will host the first annual Buck Renner Memorial Tournament to raise proceeds towards the scholarship fund. Additionally, Jim carries the Scholarship Fund logo on his staff bag.
